I just got in a Ka-bar hunter. The knife came razer sherp and was cheap. Not disappointed in the knife. I bought it new for under $25.00 and it will do what I want it to. The only problem I see is the leather handle is a bit dry. The sheath was as well, but a little obendorfs boot preserve and it is fine. I tried the same stuff on the knife, but it did not soak in as well. I am thinking about getting something more liquid like hubbards, but am willing to liten to any other ideas that work. I have some toung oil as well, but not sure about using it. I use it on gun stocks to good use, but not sure about leather.

I melted snoseal and soaked it into the handle, it's worked well. I also heated the handle with a hairdryer first.

obenaufs should work, just heat the handle with a dryer like the others have said. or rub it in, then heat it up, then rub it in some more.

I followed your advise and it looks better. I may give it another coat or two for good measure.

I would rub in a little bit of 100% neetsfoot oil to replace the needed oil then follow uo with sno-seal to water proof

I would imagine that years of use have put a coating of dirt, oil, grime on it...
I believe I would sand it down a little with maybe 220 grit, then 300, then linseed oil it.

Second that big-time. And once it soaks in , gives a great grip.
Sno-seal goes on all my leather handles and gear. Even as a blade protectant , although I wouldn't want to eat the stuff. A small jar lasts a heck of a long time , and only costs about 5 bucks.
