I was given an old piece of leather, about 2.5' square and guessing about 7oz weight. The inside looks good other than some water stains, but the out side is kinda shiney medium tan in color with some dark spots near edges. Can the outside be restored or deglazed???? Sorry i cant post pics.

Veg. tan or chrome tan? If it is truly 7OZ., it could be and probably is veg. tan. You can work this in the normal ,manner and use dye to change the color and make the dark spots disappear.............BUT, if it is that old then it could be an exercise in futility. The resulting project will probably fall very short of your acceptable standards. If it is chrome tan then it probably won't be usable for any project which requires other than soft pliable leather.
