Ive been looking at getting a leather daypack or sling pack and wanted to get your thoughts. Is leather even a good option fora pack? It will be used mainly for edc and overnighters. Also, if you have any pics please post them! Here is a pack made by my sheathmaker which I like. I think something along these lines with some mods might work. I really like open compartment designs with a flap on top. Anyone?

Leather is heavy, but one of the most wear resistant and insolative materials you can make a pack out of. I konw Saddleback leather make several sizes of backpack with a great warenty. i personaly like a nylon pack but thats just a style thing, a well made and properly maintained leather bag is a lifelong bag, buy once cry once. also i understand you can take them to a tatto artist and have them personalize the pack for you with you cant really do with nylon (you can have it embroidered i know but that is hard to do on a completed pack.) i hope i helped.

That's a nice little pack. I would love a little leather pack, here's a cool one I found on a random google search recently.
It looks like something a mountain man would carry his essentials in.

Thanks guys. I guess what Im looking for is something smaller than the above photo. I assume a larger pack in leather would be quite heavy and probably way less comfortable than current materials and options. I was thinking a sling pack that rides on the back not on the side, kinda like a socom go bag but not as large.

Different leathers have different qualities. Kangaroo leather is thin & very strong. Much better strength to weight ratio than bovine.
