I teach fifth grade in a low income school. In past years I have made from 60 to 70 knives a year. This meant that I had plenty of leather scraps left over from all the sheaths that I made. This year I didn't make as many knives therefore don't have as many leftover leather pieces.
I have always taken the leather scraps I have to school and let the children use them in leathercraft projects. I have a large assortment of leather tools and leather stamps, at school for the students to use.
Tandy leather sells pieces of leather for this, but they are expensive for my students.
If anyone has some leftover pieces from sheath making that would be suitable for this type of leather craft, e-mail me and I will be glad to pay your postage and my students will appreciate the donation.
The leather scraps should be from 5-10 oz in thickness and should be tooling leather.
Thanks, Tom Lewis
