Hi gang, I need a little help.

I've been looking for a leather sheath to fit my SRK. I haven't been able to find too much, to my surprise.

It doesn't even have to be made specifically for the knife. I just want a good quality leather sheath that doesn't cost $100. Realistically I'm trying to keep it around $40. Maybe I'm asking too much for this day and age.

Any help would be appreciated, thanks all

The Buck 119 sheath fits well. I use one as my SRK came to me without a sheath. The foldover retention strap is a tad wide though it does retain the knife from coming out. I put a second snap button on mine to make the retention tighter.

You can order a sheath from Buck for about $20.

The only thing I can think of in that price range is the pre made ones that some knife making suppliers sell. I just checked one site and they have several but are all sold out. Whether they have one to fit your SRK I don't know. Another option would be to build it yourself. Lots of help here if you decide to go that route. Lots of guys here that can help talk ya through it.

Have an old SRK myself, thats been to some pretty dark places. Never let me down.

I am currently unable to make one. I'm on a tight budget and the cost of the supplies would surpass my limit. I would love to start making my own though.

I actually made a bit cover for my beloved Fiskars X7 out of an old duty belt I had. I simply drilled holes and used machine screws. It works great. It isn't pretty though, haha!

I very much do want to start making my own sheaths. I picked up leather from Hobby Lobby, but didn't realize how thin and flexible it was until I got it home. I use it for over strike guards because it isn't suitable for a sheath or bit cover.

A guy on Etsy made me some custom made leather sheaths for some Marbles knives I own. Very high quality and he charged $50 at the time for full custom (you send him your knife). If you are interested, pm me and I will give you his info.

I'm Happy to see that thread getting some read time. It was an attempt to help the beginning crafter without them feeling like they needed expensive equipment to make working sheaths. :)

Thank you! I am going to order the Buck 119 sheath. If it is not heavy duty enough I will continue this journey, and let you know
Go fishing on the bay. Look for “to-gordo”. You won’t be disappointed, and the price is right.

Thank you, I shall

I almost always make new leather sheaths for my FBs. The basic requirements are suitable leather (I prefer latigo saddle leather from Tandy), waxed nylon thread, some cobbler's needles and an awl along with a sharp knife (Xacto, Olfa), and some kind of leather treatment (I like SnowSeal). Admittedly, my sheaths are functional and nothing as nice as the professionals here make :(.
