I have multiple leather knife sheaths as well as some leather rifle straps that are mildewing. What do you do to remove it and stop it from coming back?

I have had good luck using Bick 4 to remove light mildew from leather. I have also used Skidmores with some success. Both of those will also help to condition the leather.
For heavy mold or mildew, you can use alcohol to kill it but that will also dry out the leather and probably damage any finish or dyed surfaces so I would definitely test in in a small, hidden area. A light oiling after using alcohol would be a good idea. Heavy mold can stain and do a lot of damage unfortunately. A number of years ago, I was storing several hides in a small enclosed trailer. It had the typical vent cover on top but the Arizona sun managed to destroy the cover allowing some of our small amount of rain get inside and on the hides. I went out to get one and found mold on every one and so bad I just scrapped them all.
The best way to prevent it is to keep things stored in a low humidity environment and ensure they are dry before storage. I know that can be tough in some places but smaller storage areas can be controlled with various passive and powered dehumidifiers.
Other members here will probably have different ideas and experience.

Obenaufs LP.......Best leather stuff I've used.....Been my favorite for decades......Just cleaned mildew.off my Dad's 22 magnum Winchester lever action stock and sling using. it. Rub it in well. Give it some soak time then wipe off excess and more soak time.....Should be good to go....👍
