I have a leather sheath that has a small cut through the leather just to the side of where the edge is up near the top of the sheath. Basically, I think what happened was a co-worker took my AD out to see it and, being uncoordinated, did not have the blade lined up properly when they tried to reinsert it into the sheath. So, for anyone who has done leatherwork, what are my repair options at this point? The sheath is an old style Leatherman that is horizontal carry with the snap at the bottom for a pant beltloop.

I know what you may be thinking and, ordinarily, I would ask a person to make things right, but two things are in play here that make me hesitate: 1. He is a supervisor and I am not; and 2. I don't think he necessarily even knows he did it. In fact, I am pretty sure they he would be both shocked and dismissive about the whole thing if I even mentioned it to him. Still, I am fairly certain about what happened because the rig is with me everywhere and I am very anal about it.

Any thoughts would regarding repair would be appreciated.

Hey edge, the way those older badass sheaths are made its pretty hard to deal with a cut.

If you can do without your sheath for a few days (no more than two or three in my shop) I'll look it over and either fix it or send a new one. :)

If you can either send me a pic or post one it would help a bunch. The original badass's didnt have much of a welt at the top and were closely molded around the handle, makes it real difficult to sheath the knife. Thus the design changes later. Ever evolving. :D

Now that's customer service.

Wow, what an offer! I hear Dwayne's pretty good with Duct Tape! ;)

Seriously, though, I'm impressed.

Dwayne,
That is very generous of you, and totally unexpected. If awesome sheaths weren't enough of a reason to buy your products, your customer service and lots of other reasons make you tops in my book!!!

Being Mother's Day, I won't be on a lot today, but I will try to get some pics up later and/or send you some pics directly. Dwayne, that might help you to decide whether she can even be repaired to begin with. Regardless, if you want me to send her in just to be sure, I can do that. That sheath has been through a lot in her life, most from prior Busse fans, and she is far from perfect, but that is exactly the character and history that makes it so valuable to me. Thank you very much, Dwayne!!! I will try to get up a few pics later.

The length of the cut is 3/8".

Yea, please do send it in. :) I have a technique that will preserve the integrity of the sheath and allow me to repair the cut, and I can update it a little. ;) My PO Box is listed on my site. Just let me know when it goes out and I'll be on the lookout.

And if that doesnt work out in the long run, your not out anything, I'll make a new one. :D

One of my favorite quotes "You shouldnt have to pay for someone else's stupidity"

Now if that would only work on some of those gun and knife laws!

random selection of smilies to basically convey that I think.........

DWAYNE IS THE MAN!

DANG!!!!!! That hurts me to look at it. Don't ever let that guy use your knife again. I carry a lesser blade for others to borrow. I have an SAK that I will reluctantly lend if someone needs a blade. Usually I just cut the stuff for them.

Dwayne is the man, no doubt about it. Dwayne, you're still coming to Blade aren't you?

PG,
For the record, I did not "let" him use it; he just helped himself before I could actually stop him. I'm sure you know how some people can be like that. Maybe I'll leave a grenade with a butane lighter sign on it somewhere near his desk. (j/k):D :D

Dwayne, I will get the sheath off to you asap. Thank you very much!!!
