A sheath I just got with a custom knife, was more of a loose fitted pouch type. I wanted to make it more of a neck sheath so I took matters into my own hands, however I have a few questions.
I soaked the sheath in warm water, re-sheathed the knife to the desired depth. Then I used my fingers and molded the sheath around the blade and part of the handle to get a tight fit. I left it for a few hours till it dried hard, and then I heated some parafin wax, with a little bit of bees wax, and dipped the outside of both sides. Lastly I buffed the outside of the sheath to remove the excess wax. Did I do it right? The sheath is nice and stiff, and you can see the exact contours of the blade inside, so I guess I molded it well. It almost feels like a kydex sheath now, and I can wear it as a neck knife, but I want to know if it will stay this way? Any pointers? Thank you for reading.
