A sheath I just got with a custom knife, was more of a loose fitted pouch type. I wanted to make it more of a neck sheath so I took matters into my own hands, however I have a few questions.

I soaked the sheath in warm water, re-sheathed the knife to the desired depth. Then I used my fingers and molded the sheath around the blade and part of the handle to get a tight fit. I left it for a few hours till it dried hard, and then I heated some parafin wax, with a little bit of bees wax, and dipped the outside of both sides. Lastly I buffed the outside of the sheath to remove the excess wax. Did I do it right? The sheath is nice and stiff, and you can see the exact contours of the blade inside, so I guess I molded it well. It almost feels like a kydex sheath now, and I can wear it as a neck knife, but I want to know if it will stay this way? Any pointers? Thank you for reading.

You'll be fine as long as it doesn't get wet again. The wax should help but you could also dip it and get wax inside the sheath. I've never done this so don't take that as gospel!

(Now I've done my part by starting the replies, someone who knows what they're talking about will now jump in to save you. :D)
