Hello makers. I just finished my first stacked leather handle and am really excited about it, plan to keep on doing it to some of my knives. I was thinking of getting some pre-cut leather washers but another fellow bf'er told me to check if there are any sheath makers close by that I could get scrap leather from - that would be really neat! For this first project I hit a couple of places (Michael's, an upholstery shop, an arts n crafts store) with no luck:grumpy:.

Any fellows close by that want to get rid of scrap leather? :D I'm also very inclined to learn the art of crafting leather sheaths, have done a couple of sheaths in kydex but the classiness of a well made leather sheath is undeniable. Thanks folks!

I'd be willing to fill up a small flat rate box for the cost of the freight.

hmmm for some reason I can't see any messages on my profile here on bf. Let me pm you with an email address.

There is a fantastic leather shop not far from you at all. It's called "Daddy's Leather" and run by a fellow named Lui Rayon. It's just a few blocks away from the Miami International Airport, at 7495 NW 7th St # 9 Miami, FL (305) 260-4532
Lui is a great guy to deal with, runs FREE classes and workshops every weekend, and has a huge inventory of tools and leather. His shop is a little tricky to find as it seems to be at the back of a parking lot, with a rather small front door, but inside the shop is like a warehouse! If you go there, please tell him that his "Japanese connection" says hello!

Thanks dude! will check it out this weekend.

hey stitchawl I went there on Saturday, man what a great place! I felt like I was a kid at a candy shop! I talked to Lui for like an hour, and will be there next Saturday, such a great fellow. Thanks for tip dude!

Glad to help. Lui is a real nice guy. I hope you gave me my regards. He sent me some very nice sheepskin at a price I couldn't even dream of! Please tell him 'Hi! from Japan!'
