Withing the last six months I caught the Becker bug. First it was a 11 off the exchange, then a 16 off the exchange. Recently picked up a 15 too. I like to EDC the 11 and 16, the sheaths were not working for me so I decided to take a stab at making one or a few out of leather. I already had leather, I made a few holsters in the past. First was the 11, still need to find time to make scales, I have the scale material, just limited time. And besides, my garage is not heated. I am pleased with the way it turned out and wanted to share.

After the 11 was done, I thought why stop there. I wanted a modular sheath for my 16, one to do it all. The initial design did not work out as well as I liked, so I cut it apart and tweaked it a bit. Its a WIP but at this point, I can't fix ugly. The stitching is horrible. The dye is too dark around the stitching and there are some improvements I can make. Next one will include a welp along the blade edge and double stitching. It works quite well though, so I am happy with it. I think of it as a practice run for the 15

My usual carry

Did I not mention its a dangler too

The backside. I will also carry vertically on the belt. A belt will slip under the back between the two loops.

Working with leather isnt hard, it does take some practice making it pretty though. Doesnt have to be expensive either. Use what you have, I usually am able to make do with the basic of household tools.

Awesome job! I love the classy look of leather. I should probably try to learn those skills myself. I did just get 2 azwelke holsters as gifts though so I guess I can't complain lol.

Thanks! First time using a color other than black. You should try it, it wasn't difficult but I had to go slowly. Stitching takes the most time and if you don't it shows

On the 11 it was not needed since it was pretty tight. So I thought I would forego it on the 16 sheath which was a mistake. I won't make that mistake on the next one.

You also run the risk of the blade going right through the bottom if you were to fall on it.

I hoped the contact cement, stitching and Chicago bolt would have been enough. I see your point and already plan on beefing up the design on the next one.

Thanks. Just ordered a 24 last night, seems like I have another project :) that I don't have time for :(

I was hoping to try my hand at some leather for a scout sheath project. I have gotten the leather but still lack some tools. have been working on kydex so far but certainly would like to try out working on leather.

Can you recommend any website that sell leather supplies?

Honestly I do not have any leather specific tools. I pretty much use an exacto knife, a dremel with a 18 gauge brad nail, contact cement, a plastic ruler (my 8 year old daughter's with fairies I think) and needle nose pliers. The actual leather tools I use are a set of leather needles, waxed string and alcohol based dye, all from Tandy. That's it. The Chicago style bolts are also from Tandy. You probably have enough tools already to do the work. Good luck!
