I stupidly left one of my knives in it's leather sheath for too long and when I took it out I noticed the leather had discolored the brass bolsters (kind of an ugly brown blemish on them)

anybody know of a good product or method to fix this?

The Original "Nevr-Dull" majic wadding polish has been my favorite for as long as I can remember. My father used it when I was a child. Its good stuff, a little wad will do a big area. And a can lasts forever. In fact, does anyone know how to reconstitute this stuff? I have a can I bought a while back and it was dry when I got it. :(

find some banana oil and pour some in until its the way you want it. thats what they used to have listed in the can many years ago as the main ingredient. try some 0000 steel wool on the brass to polish it back up.

tried rubbing a little metal polish on it, worked perfectly, good as new. last time I ever store a knife in a leather sheath though.

Banana oil? Ya learn something new every day! :) The smell off the wadding is a little turpy as well. Now, where the heck do I go for banana oil.....

Brass + cheap leather + a little moisture = a green goo. It has a name, but it escapes me right now.

I've got carbon steel knives that have been stored in thier sheaths for 5+ years with no ill effects. But it semms that those sheaths that Buck and Schrade supply with the folders grows that green stuff like it was fertilized.

actually it's a sheath I made for the knife, turned out nice but I used shoe leather I think so maybe thats it.
