Just browsing the bay and I see 20pc leather stamps ranging from 20-35 dollars with free shipping from China. Any experience with these? Granted I understand you get what you pay for, but how bad could they be? I think all of Tandys stamps are made in China

The early Craftool stamps are very good, if you see them snap em up. Craftool as a company shut its doors in the Spring of 1999. Since then its Taiwan or Japan depending on nothing more than what is received. Quality is similar between the two.

Craftool had been making tools since the 40's so its a good bet that there are a few floating around. I've been looking around for tricks on how to tell the early tools, besides them looking old that is. :p I have a few from a very old Tandy "all in one" kit I got at an estate sale and they are very nice and sharp, the detail is very good as well. The kit was, I think, 60's vintage.

I agree with Paul totally, anything that is cheap AND from China is not going to be pleasing in the long run. But I am so tempted to get one just o see for myself. I teach leather craft occasionally and having cheap tools for the ham fisted goobers would be nice rather than holding my breath waiting for one to hit the floor wrong side down.
