Leather Supply

I've gotten all of mine from Siegle of California for several years. Good prices, good sales and no shipping on orders over $75.

Another choice is Wickett & Craig. They have a nice sample pack they send out with their pricing info.

Other than Tandy, I have gotten some steals on ebay. You need to have a good idea what you want with respect to thickness, type of leather, etc....I have only gotten bitten once on ebay though, 9 oz leather turned out to be thickness and grain type that is used on footballs...got about 9 sq feet of the dang stuff.

Good Luck. Rangers Lead The Way!

Weaver Leather, you will have to set up an account with them, primo leather. Never have been disapointed, they also have the best leather sheers I have ever used ( around 45.00) but well worth it, cuts 7/8 oz. shoulders like slicing butter.http://www.leathersupply.com/

Muir & McDonald Leather Company in Dallas, Oregon has been good to deal with. Good, vegetable tanned leather at a good price. Though you have to buy a minimum of one side (1/2 the cow) of leather at a time.
They used to offer a huge discount on smaller sides for first time customers---don't know if they still do.

Muir & McDonald has a great reputation and they do their own tanning. I think they'd be an excellent choice too but a little more pricey. A case where you get what you pay for, for sure. They also do great leather work.

Do you always get vegatable tanned leather? What type of tanning tarnished the steel?

Vegetable, or bark tanned is the good stuff. Chrome tanned is way more corrosive.
Vegetable tanned takes wet forming better too.
