Tutorial at www.knivesby.com. There have been some postings also. I've made cordura nylon sheaths and I used a thin plastic liner for the blade.

The Knifenetwork http://knifenetwork.com/forum/index.php has an entire section dedicated to sheath making - both leather and synthetics. The link that mete posted has good tutorials but not all questions are answered.

As for advantages of either both have their good points as well as "bad" - much depends on the intended use of the sheath

As for that satement - there are many of us here, on TKN, and other forums who enjoy making sheaths - some of us even do it for a living: besides myself - there is Tess Neilson (ladies first ;), the grand old man of sheath making - Sandy Morrisey (83 years old and still going...), Dan Gray, Dave "Lifter", Dwayne "Leatherman" Puckett, Dave Coles, MtMike Bartol, Gary Graley, Brian Goode, Eric "Normark" Noeldechen and many others - all of whom I apologize for not listing, but my brain ain't firing on all cylinders yet this morning....

Nate - Its not that I dont like making sheaths but I have to change gears 100% when I start this part. I like leather best. It just has that natural "living" feel to it. Get some construction paper and make mock ups. Its the best way to see what parts you need.
