Gotta love getting cut by thread.

Ah right in the crease! Rick Lowe suggested using band-aids on your fingers when sewing. Yours is a great example why.

Ah the memories, now I can finish a sword sheath by hand and barely feel it. :p

Time will heal, wounds will lead to callouses, and all will be well, aside from hand shakes that make your new friend feel nervous. :D

Okay, guys WAAAAY back when I didn't have my sewing machines, I too had to hand stitch, along with all the discomfort associated.

The photo below shows my answer to the "cut creases" etc. These gloves probably hand stitched 75 miles or more:cool:

Cut the thumb and index finger out of each glove just above the first knuckle and you are set to go. No more cuts. Beats tape and band aids all to heck, and you still retain full dexterity of the thumbs and fore fingers. Golf gloves will work nicely as well.

Done that many many times. Often on both hands multiple fingers.

I find the deep punctures from the dull stitching needles to be my least favorite. Especially when I manage to puncture with the bigger eye end of the needle!!!!!

Always nice to finish up a nice clean sheath though. Makes it worth it!

I never did do the glove thing, but I have ran that darn needle right into various places and it NEVER ended well. :p I use harness needles so they tend to be a bit sharper, but last a lot longer. The smaller eye can be a real trial at times. One can lose their religion trying to string a particularly stubborn piece of thread.

Under the finger nail is to this day the most painful.

I'm not very fond of pain..... And I usually do pretty good avoiding it.
But yesterday stuck the eye of the needle right in my cuticle part of my nail and I will NOT be doing that again. Knock on Wood!
And I usually don't use fowl language - but I sure gave the dogs a good cursing.... they looked at me like I was crazy?:rolleyes:

Discomfort? I thought those were character building moments!? :)

And I agree with Leatherman, under the finger nail is the worse!
