What does a "laid off" engineer make out of leather (when he's run out of resumes to send)? He's makes a pocket protector ... of course. Used my new diamond punches (Tandy) to lay out the stitching. The leather is a bit heavy (6-8 oz) and plans are already underway to get some lighter leather. This one rides in the pocket "OK" but could stand to be a bit more flexible and just a little lighter.

I think this is a great idea for a thread. As it happens, when I retired back in 1995, I immediately became under employed when compared to what I was making as a full time worker. My leather work "Hobby", started in 1951 became my immediate source of additional income and the rest is history. I am about to retire again or at least severely semi retire, but for 18 years of retirement from the traditional work force it has been very good for me. You can invest a fairly modest amount initially and hone your skills and turn leather work into a very satisfying and lucrative endeavor.

That's a great idea and design especially with the heavy duty look but if there's a lighter version then it will be a hit and more practical. With your talent coupled with innovation, I am sure that it will be good business. Good luck!
