As a proud ok wher of a Supertool 300 and a Rev, I have a question for you Leatherman bluffs out there.
First of all, I love my Supertool 300 but find it a tad heavy for everyday. But it would be the one I'd hope to have hanging g of my belt if out for a big adventure.
I got the Rev for two reasons, price and lighter in weight for EDC. But it lacks an awl which I wish it had. Also a saw would be nice.
What can I get that has pliers w/cutters, a blade, awl, straight slot and Phillip's head? Maybe or maybe not a saw and file.
Price and weight are considerations.

For outdoors I got a LM Signal. It has all those tools and it is lighter weight. So far I really like it and the hammer end comes in handy.

I had to go research both of these suggestions and that Signal is sweet. However the price tag of 130 is bittersweet.
The Bond is a little more like it as far as price goes. But just about the only thing it has that my Rev doesn't is that dang awl. It's hard to pay 60 just to get an awl.
I just wonder if there a way to file that one tool on my Rev that is supposed to be a tool to open clamshell packaging? File that sucker down to an awl?

Not to hijack the thread, but I wish they’d make the Bond with the option to have a saw blade instead of a regular blade. This would make a great compliment to carrying a pocket knife without tools.

There are places online where you can purchase an awl separately. I don't know which would be compatible with the Rev...but I'm sure one of them would be.

the-accumulator the-accumulator is on the right track, I think. Pick up a used Leatherman somewhere (there are sometimes pretty good deals here on the exchange) and cannibalize it for parts.

But...also your idea of filling down the package opener seems like a good one. Honestly, that's probably what I'd do.

I'm shocked that nobody has mentioned the Leatherman Rebar. It's the Supertool 300's little brother. It's basically a scaled down version of it.

The Rebar is 4 inches folded and it weighs 6.7 ounces (190 grams), compared to the 4.5 inch size and 9.6 ounce (272 grams) weight of the Supertool 300.

I think the Rebar is everything you want.

I also recommend the Bond; I think it's the most affordable decent multitool that Leatherman currently offers. I replaced the file with a Rebar saw that I bought off Ebay, but I could have just as easily kept the file and replaced the blade with the saw instead.

You're right, that Rebar is sweet. The price is starting to go north a tad but I'm sure it's worth it. Decisions decisions.

Get the bond.

In my opinion it's one of the best multitools leatherman has ever made.

*Psst!* 👀

Don't tell anyone, but I got my Rebar for 40 bucks on ebay, shipping included... brand new... with the leather sheath, which I now use to carry a 91mm Victorinox Ranger.

🤫 Shhh!

If you want multitool for camping then I'd just put the super tool to my backpack. I rarely ever carry knives on me when I go camping - I just put them outside of my backpack or in the pocket.

Oh crap I might have just misread your post - I guess it was the adventure part.. or maybe I have been too much on adventure / outdoors mindset lately. :D

But yea, I would definitely recommend the bond though. I have it and I really been digging it.

I have a Bond. Nice tool. Mine lives in a drawer. I can't get by without scissors, a wood saw, and outside opening one-handed blades, never mind the bit exchanger. But the Bond does have an awl, which the Wave lacks. That's why I carry a Surge. T-A

Yeah, I can see that definitely. It’s more of a slow life tool. For work the one hand features are definitely a good thing.

That’s why I carry my Curl with wood saw mod.

That and the damn knife blade wouldn't flop out and cut you if you have the audacity to use the tool half open in order to reach a recessed screw🤬

I like the Bond. I EDC the Bond. I hate the damn knife blade with a passion. Total design flaw, IMHO. In the 20+ years I have been carrying a folding pliers based tool (literally most evert single day), I have cut myself more with this tool than any other...and I wasn't even using the damn blade when it got me!

IMHO, splurge for a Rebar. Probably the most logical tool in LMs lineup that is at home both on the job or tinkering on the weekends.
