Leatherman and a dishwasher

There has been a lot of talk about putting a SAK in the dishwasher fro deep cleaning. I tried that and it worked great.

Has anyone ever tried this with a Leatherman?

I have tried it with great success. Take it out before the drying cycle and spray it w/ WD40 to get rid of moisture and then give it a light coat of lubricating oil in the pivot areas.

Recently ran an Emerson Commander through the washer by accident- clipped to some shorts. Noticed an odd thumping in the dryer. Knife squeaky clean & happy as a puppy.

Ran my Sebenza through the washer AND dryer. Actually made it look clean again. No damage whatsoever. I disassembled, lubed, and it was as good as new.

Same think happened to my S30V Atwood mini-Prybaby. Looked much better afterwards (it actually got rid of some oxidation cause by battery acid--looked like new again).

Used toothbrush and hand soap always worked well for me, seems would get more junk out than water spray.

I too do many, many cleaning and polishing jobs working with toothbrushes. I have at least 4 different types of toothbrushes I use. The really stiff ones that are made to clean dentures are really good for hard cleaning chores.

The really soft ORAL B toothbrushes are great to get into very finite areas. On top of that they really aren't that expensive. Even the really good ones. They are a great overlooked cleaning and polishing aid.

the washing powder wont do the edge much good if done often

you could always just throw it in a pan of hot water

Thank you for the idea about a pan of hot water.

Thanks to all for the input.
