Hi everyone,
I have been looking at this site for some time and finally decided to register for it.
Just wondering if anyone out there has purchased the Leatherman Blast, and what they think of it.
I have been a Leatherman fan for at least 10 years, and have owned most of the tools. I even had a custom clip-on leather sheath made for my Wave.
The Blast seems very solidly built, and I like the fact that the blades come out of the handle one-at-a time. I ahve used the can openeronce and it seems better than any I have prevously used (Leatherman and Victorinox).
Hope to keep you all posted as I test this knife.
My only concern was the Zytel inserts in the handle. I hope that they don't crack with use.
However, with Leatherman's warreny, I don't think this will be a problem.
Thanks for any input,
mouse123

mouse123, Welcome! I have a Blast and BEAT THE HECK OUT OF IT EACH DAY. I was excited about the new Core but after loking at it closely, I took a pass, too big for me! The zytel inserts will be intact well after you and I are gone from this Earth! I have owned three and each one has had the best action, at the pivot, I ever seen from Leatherman. You know what I mean, Ever get one with a sloppy pivot action? When the jaws get loose and the wire cutters won't cut stranded wire? This is not happening with the Blast. Hope this helps, Walter

PS, go to General blade discussion, and scoll down to the Multi-tool fourm. Lots of multi-tool guys and gals there!

I remain a dedicated Victorinox Tinker fan (continually replaced for over 20 years), but have been admiring and finding out about Leatherman multitools for some years after having bought and used a small PST which was then stolen. I now have a Blast and am delighted. It doesn't pinch, the tools move into position easily and they lock solid. Great movement, comfortable to use. Only thing to add would be the awl spur of the Tinker.

I know this is an old post, but how has the Blast been workin out for ya, Mouse123? Those zytel handles holding up? I switched from the Wave to the Blast. I like the fact that the handles don't pinch your hands like the Wave ones do, and I also like the weight of the Blast. Whole lotta tool for very little weight. I too saw the Core, but got the Blast instead. Less weight, and still a lot of tools to choose from. The zytel was a concern for me as well, but I've heard nothing but good things about it, so I took the plunge. Do you still carry it?

I'm not Mouse123 but will try to give feed back. *let me qualify, i have not owned to "large" ones, ie. Shurge, Core, etc. The Blast has been the best Leatherman I've owned. It held up nicely and i carried it a little over a year. But as most of us here do, I got bored and ended up with a Swisstool Sprit and have been carring that. The Blast is a fine tool and the zytel is holding up well.

That two-pack from W-mart is great deal.

Hi ElCuchillo,
Sorry for the delay in my response.
The Blast has been working very well for me. I zytel handles have been holding up well and have not shown any siigns of wear. I also have to agree with you that the Blast is a lot of tool for little weight, and is the BEST Leatherman I have owned as well. I have been looking for a clip-on sheath for the tool as I don't wear a belt at work. I may have asked this before but does anyone have any suggestions where I could get one? I would prefer to get it from a store where I could look at it before I buy it. I live near Windsor, Ontario and so far have not found a source for a sheath.
Also, anyone try a kydex sheath for the Blast?
Thanks for the responses.
Sincerely,
Neil
