The Leatherman Skeletool, Leatherman Freestyle, and many of the Leatherman multi-tool knives feature a combination carabiner and bottle opener.

What's your opinion about the combination carabiner and bottle opener? Is this just another fad like tight rolled jeans in the early 90's? :)

The carabiner might be handy clipped to a packstrap d-ring, but I wouldn't wear it off my belt. It is a fad, but not a bad one.

what is it about leatherman knives that just screams made in china to me?

I have a LM knife. I cant remember what model it is exactly but it is the one with the most tools and the 154cm blade steel. Anyways, as fare as the quality of it goes it actually is pretty good. The bit driver and bits are exactly like the ones on the multi tools and so is the can opener for the most part. The blade steel is rather good since it is the 154cm and holds an edge rather well. It has a very nice grip. I cant say that I use the carabiner except for the bottle opener part. The bottle opener was kind of different at first since you have to open the bottle with a reverse grip but after you do it a few times it works very well. The only complaint I have with them is that if you are carrying it with its pocket clip it is too bulky but thats just my opinion.

Sorry, I also forgot to mention that the blade opens with one hand very smoothly and a lot easier that the Vic OHT. It is pretty much as smooth as most of your mid value tac folders but nothing like an Emerson or Benchmade.
