Leatherman Charge AL (Tight Plier Pivots)

Alright guys, I've had this Leatherman Charge for about a week now. Upon my very first open, the two pivots where the pliers connect to the body were tough to open and close. I figured maybe it just had to be broken in (which seemed odd because all my other Leathermans have been good)... A couple days later, nothing has changed... I've tried multiple types of lubes, open and closed it 100's of times and I even left it in oil over night and its still not great. It has a tight, dry, friction feeling to it in the first 20 degrees when folding the pliers away in closed position. (And vice versa for opening)

It definitely isn't as easy as my other Leathermans (5 of them) or my Victorinox SwissTool. I was just wondering If I have to keep man handling this thing or if there was any good solutions to this. I've searched a lot but it seems like a lot of people talk about the single middle pivot that connects the two pliers together. The pivots i'm talking about are the ones where the two tamper proof ones leatherman has on the AL version. I should also note that all my other tools work 100% perfectly. It's just the folding of the PLIERS!

What gives!? If I have to take a video I will.

I've got the Charge TI, and I had a similar issue when I first got it. I just kept using it, and after some dirt, grime, hard use, and vigorous cleaning, it started to smooth out. Now it's like butter. I would try using it for some seriously nasty work, and then really cleaning it well (I.e. mineral spirit bath, scrubbing, oil bath, etc.). If it doesn't get any better after that, send a message to Leatherman, they've really taken care of me in the past.

Hello,

I have a Wave that was very tight. After a month of using it, not just opening and closing it, its perfect. It should loosen up in time, having a tight multi tool when its new is a good thing in the long run.

Have a good one,

Chris
