I've recently gotten a boat and have been spending a lot of time out fishing and having fun, but I haven't taken my weatherman charge tti out because I'm worried something might start rusting.

Does anyone else take their charge out in a salt water environment? How does it perform and what do you do to clean/look after it?

I take my TTI out with me and it stays in its leather pouch on my belt until I need it. It gets a rinse in fresh water before leaving for the day.
I'm also very careful in not getting sand trapped in the pin joints.

It hasn't rusted on me and the S30V blade is still as sharp as ever. With the exception of the pliers, I don't use any of the other tools.

Thanks for the reply, I guess I'll start taking it out and using it more. I will definantly be make a tether in case I happen to drop it, that would be an expensive mistake!

if you are taking it just to have just incase you should be fine as long as its stays dry maybe oil it up if it were me. I took my kershaw blackout one time offshore and it had rust spots by the time we got back. It more or less just get wet from hands and from cutting some squid for bait. I realized atfter that I need a better knife for saltwater. I want to get a Spyderco Salt series since they say it will never rust.

I've had rust issues with all my Leatherman tools with beadblasted surfaces. A lot of the parts on the Charge TTi are titanium or polished steel, so it doesn't give me much trouble. But the few parts that are bead blasted (small portion of the plier head, the tang of the file and saw, etc.) get rust spots easily.

I've had small rust spots develop on my original Supertool and gen 1 Wave. Wasn't impressed when I saw that and I wasn't even in a salt water environment.
