My tool went missing the other day and mysteriously reappeared with some damage to the cutting edge to the s30v blade. It appears as if the knife was used as a screwdriver (pisses me right the f*** off). Does leatherman replace the blade free of charge under the 25 year warranty?

I need to start hiding my knives.

How bad is it? Can you get a picture? Who would do that?

Bad enough to be annoying.
Someone that doesn't understand our passion.

It's bad enough that they used it as a screwdriver, even worse when the tool has a fracking screw driver built in!!! WITH 20 DIFFERENT BIT SIZES!!!

Sharpen it out doesnt look to bad

I agree. Sure, it sux when someone abuses your stuff without even telling you, definitely deserving some kind of retribution if you ever find out who did it. However, this bit of damage isn't going to affect the blade's function one bit. Tools are made to be used, which inevitably leads to marks and dings. Hey, on very the very first time I used the blade on my brand new Charge Ti it got several deep scratches. No biggie, in fact it was like getting the first marks on a new car; not a good thing but at the same allowing you to relax, already.

Think of your blade as having some added "personality," and save Leatherman warranty for if and when you really need it.

That's definitely not something I would send to LM for warranty work. Just use/sharpen as it really doesn't look that bad.

I have no idea if LM would replace that blade but to me it's still like new and nothing is wrong with it. Knives that get used will always need sharpening, wear and potentially get a chip.

Thanks guys. I worked out who did it, but when I confronted the person, they didn't admit it.

Thanks for the advice too on sharpening it out and leaving the warranty jobs for when it's really needed. I've got a 2000 grit whetstone that I've never used on anything, is it ok for this job or too fine?

use rougher grit first like 400 or 600... when you like the profile finish them on 2000 grit or higher and do some stroping with green compound and you'll be gold...

I got a used K500X leatherman today with 3 or 4 marks like that in it's 154CM blade, but it was only $18 and at that price who cares? A few swipes on the brown Sharpmaker stones and the little dings were 80% gone. I'll use it this next week at work and when it gets a little dull again, the next sharpening will take out what's left of the dings. Don't be surprised when folks ding your blades, non-knife guys usually consider a knife, screwdriver, and prybar to be all the same tool!
