im in the market for a Leatherman Charge. I would prefer the TTi model but would settle for the AL. I have a WAVE that i pair with a folder but i have been carrying the multitool soley lately and really would like to have a knife blade in either 154cm or s30v as opposed to the 420hc the wave comes with. My question is do local sporting goods stores, particularly Academy, carry the Charge? I want to get it locally rather than online because i have academy gift cards that would save me alot of money out of pocket. thanks in advance for your feedback.

I've seen them at our local academy sports (MS)
so it would be worth a shot to see

I have never seen them at Academy. But, if you look on their website, you could buy online using your gift cards if they have them. Hope this helps:)

I have purchased Leatherman Charge TTi's (just the tool) off eBay for $70 shipped as well.

well, my search turned up empty. I checked every sporting goods store and hardware stores we have here and no Charge of any kind. Im back home for the holidays but will be going back to Houston, tx tomorrow so hopefully there will be a Charge TTI SOMEWHERE in houston.

go for the Charge TTi...you won't be dissappointed...it is my EDC!!!!! It is a well built and reliable tool!!

Stick with the TTI , the ALX looks like Poo ! The Ti has lots of cool factor , and is a solid performer .

Just thought i would update: I ordered the TTi from amazon and damn, what a beauty it is. I owned a wave for about 4 days the discovered the TTi and returned it. The wave was nice but the Charge is on a whole other level. Ive been EDCing it since I got it and I am 100% confident i made the right choice.

Congrats! It's a nice upgrade from the Wave. You get a better blade steel but those titanium handles really make the Charge TTi a pleasure to use.

I've owned Charges , and still have a soft spot for the Wave . Good knockabout multi . The only rendition I don't care for is the ALX .
