Leatherman Charge tti?

Recently I received a Leatherman charge TTi, but it has a 154CM blade.

Well I thought maybe it is an old Ti since it has a 154cm clip point blade, but it has the wire crimper and cutting hook too. Well maybe the old XTi then, but it has the scissors too.

So it has all the features of the TTi, except for the s30v blade... it has the 154cm blade instead.
Have been looking around if there are similar versions to this one, but couldn't find one.
Anyone an idea on this or seen a TTi with 154CM blade before?

I believe I read somewhere that the S30v version was a limited run they did and also a Cabela's exclusive. I'm not 100% sure on that though. Maybe someone el,e will know for sure.

I don't know about the blade, but your link tried to infect my PC with some bogus spyware crap.

Weird.., was just a link to an image on ImageShack.
Well I replaced the link now to an image on Photobucket.

That looks like the original Charge XTi. Check out this link to retired tools on the Leatherman site:

Nope it isn't the XTi as far as I know (checked already before, but thanks for the suggestion anyway). Mine also has the scissors included that the old XTi doesn't has. The production date stamped in the tool is 1210 (December 2010), so another thing that should tell it's not the "retired" Charge Ti or the "retired" Charge XTi.

So it has all the functions of a Charge TTi, but only a 154CM blade instead of a S30V blade.
Could it be that Leatherman made a mistake and placed a 154CM blade on it instead of a S30V blade? Or is the S30V blade a limited run as rogerschrisj suggested and the "standard" Charge TTi will come with a 154CM blade? However I would expect it to show up on the Leatherman website then.

Included an extra picture in the original post with all the tools extended

I've contacted Leatherman by mail as well, so I'll post an update when I get an answer from them

Im fairly certain the S30v blade was not a limited run for Cabela's. The TTi is standard with a S30v blade. I got mine in Dec. with a production date of 0910 and it has a S30v blade. It was not purchased from Cabelas. Leathermans website indicates the Charge TTi only comes with a S30v main blade.

My many year old Charge Ti has an s30v blade and so does my less than 2 years old Charge TTi.

Well it seems then that something went wrong in production and my tool must have slipped trough quality control as well.
No answer from Leatherman yet, but I'll keep you updated.

XTI and Ti had 154 blades, then they switched to S30V when the TTi came out, so yours is just a transition model TTi with slightly less fantastic blade steel. Though for what it's worth I think 154CM is a hell of a steel in its own right and probably less prone to chipping anyway, so more of a sideways move than up or down really. I wouldn't send it in, it's kinda neat. 154CM takes a wicked edge on the Sharpmaker.

Would surprise me if this is the transition model of the TTi since the production date on mine is 1210. The TTi was released way before that date.
Imho 154CM still rocks as knife steel, so I fully agree with you on that!

I'll put it this way, I just got a limited run Charge TTi ;) only a few produced... and maybe even only one released

Leatherman is slow in answering my email btw, still didn't get any reply from them.

My TTi has s30v blade, when purchased it came in a nice big tin box with the extra bits and a black sheath that holds it all. I paid $99 I think, then I went to Costco and saw a Clamshell version of it along with another small tool or flashlight for a lot less money. My guess might be that the selling price point dictates what blade you got. Just a guess.

Sounds like you got a fluke. I have pictures of Waves still in their clampack with 'S30V" blades, but as it turns out they were simply mis stamped. Your blades may be mis stamped as well, or have the 154cm blade. What I do know is they will make it right if you send it back to them.

Took a week before Leatherman responded on my mail, but they informed me it's not supposed to have a 154CM blade. They are happy to replace it. If I lived in US they would send me a pre-paid envelop, but since I live in the Netherlands I have to send it in myself to the Dutch service point.
Just wanted to know :) Happy now
Thanks for the responses
