Ok..I have a Super Tool 300 and it keeps coming loose on me. It is no exactly convenient to keep sending it in, so I was wondering if it was possible to buy the tool they use to tighten them at the factory. The two screws at the base of the plier head are loose and I tightened them by hand as best I could, but I don't want to mess them up. Any help is greatly appreciated.

Thanks y'all!

They are security torx bits.. head down to the hardware store with your supertool and you'll need two of them (one for each side).. they will have a hole in the middle of the bit.. also, +1 on the blue loctite.. shouldn't cost you more than 10 bucks total

Negative. There are no Torx bits where I am looking. This one:

Sadly they don't sell the tightening tool to the general public. So far as I know the tool is only available to approved LM service centres. I have used two pliers (other Leatherman's to be exact) to tighten these fasteners before, but you're right, it's very easy to damage them.

My apologies, I thought the Super Tool was the same setup as the Wave and Charge.. If it makes you feel better, I sent my juice off for repair and got a new one in about a week.. Pretty good customer service if you ask me..

I just sent my ST300 in about a week ago for the same thing. Got a new tool yesterday. It is a hassle, but a new tool is always nice.
I'm hoping it wont happen again, but it seems like it may be somewhat regular. If it does happen again I may just go at it mayself and hope for the best. I wonder if messing with those pivots (and leaving visible marks) would void the warranty though. -Might just be better to send it in if there's no access to a dedicated tool for this.

Why even bother to send it in for something so trivial? Its only going to get loose again. Just replace them with something that is easy to tighten. Theres no mystery to these things, its a simple binding post and screw with fancy heads. Take one out, take the female threaded part down to Ace Hardware and get 4 dome head cap scews that fit(the sort that you can tighten with an allen wrench) , and you are good to go. You may have to trim the screws for best fit but it works fine.

I understand your frustration and would make the following suggestion. Send it back to them with a history of the LM. Explain to them that it has become very inconvenient to keep sending it back and that your other LM's (or Swiss Tool if you want to mean..) never has this problem. They will probably send you a brand new one. Best of luck and let us know how it turns out.

Mine is just the opposite...it is very tight. Not sure if it's the black finish doing it, though.

Another option, if you don't want to switch out screws, is to use a hacksaw blade, and cut a thin slot that a flatblade screwdriver will fit into. Take them out, put the blue locktite on the threads, re-assemble, and you should be good to go. I've done this on stubborn pivot screws.

I'd still let Leatherman know what's going on though. They need to fix it in future production models.
