I know these tools are not out on the shelves yet, but who out there is going to buy one or the other. Please give details why you are going to buy one over the other. These are going to be really heavy duty tools! and I for one are looking forward to them being for sale.

Definitely the Surge. It's like a big, beefy Wave on steroids, and the Wave has long been my favorite of the 30+ multi-tools I've tried.

More of what I love... what's not to like?

I am more excited about the Surge. It is on the top of my list. I do wish they would use 154CM like the Wave though.

I agree about the 154CM Blade, Maybe Leatherman will do a Super Surge with the 154CM. I have the Charge and I really like the 154CM Blade on it!

If I purchase one it will most likely be the Core. I already carry a one-hander, and I prefer the one piece saw and phillips on the Core. Don't like the saw and screwdriver bit holders on the Surge. That's actually why I don't like my Charge.
The only thing that might keep me away from the Core is the handle comfort. It doesn't look like the edges on the tool side are rounded.

The edges on the tool side of the Core have the molded inserts like the Blast so it should a good feel to it!

I'm going to have to go with the Surge on this one...although i'll probably end up with both. I've really fallen in love with my new wave with a bit kit and one hand opening, but i miss the shear brute strength of my ST200. Also...finally! An awl!

Two big tools that I got to have. Both have a lot of every thing, so I got to have them both why not?

I am with you Brother! I plan on getting both myself, 1. I am a leatherman Nut! 2. I like big multi tools, I have a ST200 and love the feel of it! Fits in my hand a little better than my Charge. So all the improvements on the Core plus having a large Wave like tool will be great!

I'm going with the Surge! Scissors that can be deployed without opening the Pliers (although I hope they are a little bigger and better as those on the New Wave and Charge Ti). A Blade Exchanger that will accept standard T-shank blades as well as the included blades. An Awl. All locking components. This is as close as any manufacturer has come to my perfect multi-tool.

If only the Surge would have the 154CM blade and Titanium Handles like the Charge. I'd also love to see a full-size multi-tool with wire strippers as those found on the (Radioshack) Squirt EL.

My only concern is that it weighs almost 50% more than the New Wave or Charge (X)Ti. According to Leatherman's website it'll weigh 12.5 oz. That's 4 more oz. than the New Wave. I don't know how well that'll work out. Guess I'll have to start working out so I can lug it around.

I'm sure I'll have both by the end of the year - more likely the month they release them. :D

I love all the options that the Surge offers with changable bits and blades, but it would seem that the "fixed" blades of the core and the longer philips will make it the toughest tool around.

As far as EDC, I'll probably keep my Juice KF4 for light duty stuff, the Crunch for the locking pliers and the Surge for the customability (if that's a word). Then I'll add the Core when I know I'm heading into deep weeds.

I just hope they come out on time because the wait is killing me! I plan on buying them as they come out also.

This is only what I have seen on the Internet, Core for around $70.00 and the Surge for around $105.00. I know there will be some places that will be on the cheaper side.

I've seen the Leatherman Core for $70 - $80 and I've also seen the Leatherman Surge for $70 - $100.

Just check Froogle for the Leatherman Core and Surge and see who's pre-selling them and at what price.

You must take into account that some of these merchants aren't authorized Leatherman dealers so it will probably be around $80 for the Core and upwards of $90 for the Surge from an authorized dealer.

Note: These are pre-orders only. These products don't come out until later this fall.
