I am a happy owner of a Core, has served me well through even the toughest of jobs. i was VERY dissapointed to find out that they disontinued this model. I am looking for a suitable replacement, any suggestion?
thanks
Unless you have used the wire cutters enough to have caused serious deterioration, I see no reason to replace your Core. Even if so, Leatherman warranty can set things right at far less cost than a new multitool. The blades and implements are the same, and other than replaceable cutters, slightly beefed up pliers and less than an ounce in weight, the ST 300 and Core are essentially equal.
I've heard the same I think as well as the handle it has removable wire cutter(this must be a serious tool) but what are your thoughts on the wave or surge?
Both are fine, but are in somewhat different categories of multitool. The Wave is noticeably lighter in weight and size, equipped with scissors and a bit holder system that allows for more versatility. It's easier to carry than the others and almost as tough for serious work. While the Surge combines the best features of both, at 12 oz and larger in size it's a beast to carry all day long. Both have a lot of sharp edges, and if the pliers slip in use, the pinch from the folded knife blades can cause a nasty blood blister on your palm (been there, done that a few times :grumpy:.) You are less likely to hurt yourself with a Core. However, it can be a treat to flip open a blade
one-handed.
On balance, they are all good tools, but if you feel well served with your present gear, keep it and be happy. Of course, if you are looking for an excuse to buy a new Leathermanl, then knock yourself out (been there, done that myself, a time or two

.)
