Looks like Doug is at it again getting a sneak preview of another mistake.

I think Leatherman should sort out their multitools first before drowning in the folder market.

Visual opinions of mine. Thumb stud big mistake. Screw driver on a folder not needed or wanted as far as I am concerned. Carabiner fad still alive I see.

A folder is a folder not a multitool. Next thing will be a cell phone and camera in a folder that does everything but provide you with a folding knife.

The only good thing is maybe this will force SAK to finally upgrade their steel and thinking of their pocket knives.

Opinion's?

I don't 'spect I'll buy one, but I think the limited additon of tools is a good thing. The 'biners are BS. I can't imagine what is in their head.

I personally think the last design on Doug's page, the one with the blade, exchangeable bit drivers and the can/bottle opener is an interesting idea. The carabiner hooks, from what I understand, will fold into the knife when not in use.

What really bothers me about these is that they're so... routine. Leatherman came on the scene with an idea that no one had ever done before, and they created a whole new category of product that simply did not exist before. These knives, on the other hand, seem like a "Me too!" kind of product... They're making them not because they offer anything earthshattering, but because they know that they can rely on the Leatherman brand itself to sell enough of these to make it profitable.

As negative as that sounds, I say again: I like the last model on the page. :)

The thumb catch looks inconveniently located... At least it looks like you can remove the carbiner-esque clip. Though, if I wanted a screwdriver, I would use a screwdriver... or my leatherman pliers... which also has a nice blade on it... Wait, wait wait... This new leather is like a leatherman without pliers a lot of the other stuff it normally has.
