I know that there are about 10 gazillion different Leatherman models out there. I have always wanted one but never really understood enough about one to get one.

Could y'all tell me what you think about this particular model Leatherman? The only reason I have listed this model is because it comes in....yes... PURPLE. I can't help it. Purple just screams my name. I do not have to have a purple Leatherman. But I do have to check it out because it IS purple and would match my knives.

Purple Leatherman Multi-Tool
25 year limited warranty
Quick access to your favorite blades
Anodized aluminum exterior handles

The Juice XE6 from Leatherman has it all. Along with pliers, wire cutters and four screwdrivers, the XE6 contains a saw, awl and diamond-coated file. It provides a choice of straight or serrated knife blades. The XE6 also houses easily accessible serrated scissors, plus a corkscrew, can and bottle opener, as well as a lanyard attachment. Powerful but still compact, the XE6 will conquer tasks in a flash.

Thanks. And I will not be offended by gentle harassment because the Leatherman is purple. :D

Thanks for the move, Cougar! I thought I was doing good by putting it in Gadgets and Gears, but never looks for a Multi-tool forum. :o

Got one for my nice before she went to China. She used it to put all her furniture together now she's using it in Israel. Great tool and people friendly.

Awwwww, how pretty lol. Have you considered a multi-tool outside of the leatherman company? Like maybe victorinox, SOG, Gerber, buck had a multi tool. The three that come to mind that i like the most and own are the gerber legend 800 which has spring loaded pliers and pretty much everything that the leatherman you posted except it has a saw that can cut metal and wood and all that. Also the victorinox swiss tool is a very nice tool and for the money you pay for it it is definately a steal! last would be the buck bucktool. I like it because i can open it with one hand easily and its small but very functional and you wouldnt believe how strong it is! The pliers came loose and they became smushy because i used it on my motorcycle and my dads a bunch of times and killed it, but it was 6 years old then!

Yes, I have. That is why I am now posting. I believe Leatherman started the multi-tool thing, but I also know there are other brands out there that are probably equally as good.

I liked this Leatherman because it was purple. That was basically it. But I wanted suggestions such as those you mentioned so that when I purchase one, it will be the right one for me and not because it is purple. But it might be purple...... :D

I appreciate your suggestions. Specific model numbers/names would be helpful to me since there are so many.

Thanks.

 weird how theres no screwdrivers, but it has a corkscrew.

maybe another juice would be good, does it have to be purple

No screwdrivers? Can't have a multi-tool without screwdrivers. No, it doesn't have to be purple.

Here are reviews on the multi tools. Go to the bottom of the page on the right and click the dropdown menu and click whatever company you want to learn more about.

Well, theres:

Victorinox I bought mine for like $70.

Gerber Got it as a present, i dunno how much it is.

Buck doesnt make the bucktool anymore. Check around on the internet maybe you could find one.

Im not too crazy about leatherman, ive owned a couple and people i know have too and they just dont cut it. The best one ive found so far is the victorinox swiss tool but my favorite is the buck tool.

I have a CS4 that's pretty nice. Doesn't touch my Charge though. It is easier to pocket, but still a bit like a brick.

The XE6 is really wide because of all the implements. I don't think it'd be good for pocket carry, if that's what you intend. Otherwise, it ought to be a fine multitool if the extreme thickness doesn't bother you.

Thanks, I'll check that link out. I'm not sold on Leatherman, which is why I still am multi-tool-less.....

Mine would be a purse carry, although I'm considering changing to a tool-belt instead.

Have you ever considered a swiss army knife? Theyre also a "multi tool". I personally like the super tinker model by victorinox it has a large blade, small blade, scissors, can and bottle opener, reamer, hook, phillips screw driver and flat head screw drivers, "wire stripper" also known as a wire bender, toothpick and tweezers. You can throw it in your pocket too! Whenever i go out and dont feel like carrying my swisstool i take my supertinker along. http://www.swissarmy.com/MultiTools/Product.htm?category=doityourself&product=53341&. Its probably as long as the width of your palm if you arent good with the swiss army knife sizing.

My very first knife 25-30++ years ago was a SAK. A tiny little thing. It was great. I think I kept it on my keyring. Don't know what happened to it.
