Hello All,
I got a Leatherman Hybrid pruner yesterday. For those into gardening, this is really impressive. For those into multi-tools, it is neat to have something that isn't the same old thing.
Went out in the yard and have to say that I found the combination yellow nylon and black rubber handles very comfortable when clipping back some dead branches. The pruning scissor has a very positive closure lock and a soft wire cutter. The handle tools include a sharpened "V" weed remover with ruler, a grafting blade with bark lifter, a phillips screwdriver (which accepts the adaptor bit kit offered separately), a coarse-toothed saw and a combination flat screwdriver/bottle opener/sprinkler tool.
None of the handle tools lock, but once you open the tool you want and close the pruner, the open tool is, for all practical purposes, locked
The sheath is nylon and will accept the Hybrid in either the open or closed position. It has both a metal belt clip or can accept belt with a stretch loop. This stretch loop places the top of the sheat about even with the top of the belt. I find that more comfortable than havinfg the top of the sheath an inch or so above the top of the belt.
Looking at the tool, I see room for additional blades. I expect we'll be seeing additional releases of varuiations of the Hybrid in the future.
Leatherman is also releasing a hunter's pruner called the Vista. Latest is it should be available in June. I'll report on that as soon as I get my hands on one.
Best - Joe
