I don't know the "exact" date when the PST II was discontinued, but it was right before the 2004 relaunch of Leatherman. 2004 was the year that LM remodeled the Wave, added the Surge, Replaced the Supertool 200 with the Core, launched the kick, fuse, and blast, and added the Charge line of tools.

The tool could be had for around 20-30 bucks, if memory serves me. You should be able to see the manufacture month and year by unfolding all the tools and looking at the inside of the handle where they are folded in storage.

The experts should be along soon. Hope this helps!

Hang on to this tool. IMHO, the pre-2004 tools were of a little better finish than their current products. The PST II doesn't lock, but it is a tried and true design. Oh, and welcome to Blade Forums:)

I believe the PST ll was from @ 1996, a modified version of the original 1983 PST, adding scissors :) and dropping the awl :(. Both were retired in 2004. They sold new in the US for about $35 to $45, and yes, you got a great deal. They have held their value well because many people think they were better finished than current offerings (honestly, I don't know), and are still sought after. The tools don't lock, but the PST ll is very usable and at a slim 5 ounces, highly pocketable. I keep one to carry when traveling to places where locking blades are not street legal or just when I want to lighten the load. Love that diamond file :)

These guys hit the nail on the head.

Sometime around 1992 Leatherman started stamping the date of manufacture inside the handles. For example, here's a photo of a Charge manufactured in March of 2005:

Edit: Oops! I didn't see that Steely_Gunz beat me to the punch! I'll leave the photo up for reference though.

My Leatherman Wave have different manufactured date stamped on both handle (0207 and 1206), is this normal or I bought a refurb item?

I own several Leathermen bought new, most have different dates on each handle. They have never been more than a few months apart. My guess is there are common parts bins where components from several production runs are stored.

I see that you come from Florida,if you like to fish, then you got the best LM for the job, needle nose to dislodge hooks, hard wire cutter to cut of barb if you get one lodged in you, scissors to cut line, and best diamond file LM made with hook sharpener in it,and light enough for an EDC,this May mine will be 12 yrs old,I have five other LM's,but the PST II is still my go to multi.
