I'd like to know if anybody has info on why the Juice series is wack colored. I would like to get a Leatherman with a corkscrew and scissors and the CS4 looks like a good fit, except for the dern colors. Is this series lower quality or for light use?

Also, I kinda like the lock on the Super Tool, and the tension on the Swiss tools. Do the non-locking Leatherman tools have some tension so that the screwdriver, for example, doesn't move around while I'm using it?

Glen:
All the Juice models come in a dark gray in addition to the "colorized" versions. I have handled the entire line, and the Juice models are the same quality as the rest. They are just set up to appeal to the non hardcore users. That is why they are colored. At that is what the factory rep told me.
Sincerely,
Tim

Each person in our family has their own juice. The colours help distinguish between the. Mine is the CS4.It is a good tool, reasonably tough but much easier to carry when compared to my Super Tool. Obviously not as tough as the full size Leathermans the fit and finish is just as good.

The Juice CS4 is a great little tool. I've been carrying one every day for the last few weeks, testing it out. It's sort of a hybrid between a standard Leatherman tool and a Swiss Army knife. All of the tools run on slipjoints. This is not a true locking method, but provides enough resistance for me on a tool of this size. I much prefer this approach over the single spring method used on the Leatherman PST.

I'm very impressed by the Juice. The weight is pretty low, the size is small, and the quality is very good. The accessibility to the outside tools is outstanding. It's the best Leatherman implementation I've used so far. I wouldn’t put the durability of the Juice in the same class as the larger Leathermans, since the Juice is all riveted construction, but the Juice is much more friendly and easy to use than its larger brothers.

It’s too early to tell yet, but the CS4 could actually make me hang up my SAK for a while.

I've only handled the Juices, but really like the entire concept. The only bummer is that the tools I use the most -- the screwdrivers -- are on the inside instead of the outside. It's the outside-accessible tools that I like the most.

Usually my attitude is to get something with all the bells and whistles, but I'm trying to move away from that. The CS4 has what I really want on a utility tool: knife, saw, pliers, awl, scissors and corkscrew.

The XE has diamond-plated file and extra knives.

Going to check them out in person tomorrow.

I go even smaller, with the S2. Everything that I need for a work tool and nothing that I don't. I would rather not add weight and lose "pocketability" for unused features. The S2 and the C2 have the smallest chassis in these models.

The Juice models are good but you should be aware of a couple of things. The can openers and awl need sharpening to work well. (I had to send an XE back because I bent the can opener. Great customer service though.) All of the other tools seem to work well. The screwdrivers on the inside do keep them from closing on your fingers. Finally, I really like the small leather clip-on belt sheath for the XE. It looks like a small cell phone and it's easy to put on and take off.

The juice series aren't really meant for hard work, but it works quite fine for me. Note, the scales are anodized aluminium and quite prone to scratching.
Mine scratched a bit, then the small flat head screwdriver kinda "stripped" its corners and I've sent it in, they replace the whole thing.
It doesn't seem that the screwdrivers are seriously hardened.
