I am bummed. I lost my Leatherman Juice S2 that has been in my pocket for 9 years. I think I left it on the causeway from Fort Myers to Sanibel while I was fishing. I live in Minnesota so flying back down to Florida is not an option.

The only time it wasn't with me was when I was flying and then it was the first thing out of the luggage and into my pocket.

It seems that Leatherman discontinued the S2. It was for me the perfect combination of tools, size, and price.

I am looking at the CS4 and the Xe6 but I am leaning toward the CS4.

The Xe6 adds a serrated blade, a wood/metal file, and a diamond coated file over the CS4. It also adds size and about $15 over the CS4.

I think I am going to have to pull the trigger on the CS4. It has been about a week and I really feel something is wrong without that familiar weight and shape in the pocket.

They still make this? I just ordered one a week ago...

Backpacker magazine just awarded it an editors choice gold award as well (reason why I impulse-ordered it)!

They still make the S2. They are releasing an updated model later this year but vendors still have the old model. If you found you never needed the additional tools on the thicker Juices, you might not like the extra weight in your pocket. I love the S2.

I ordered the CS4. Everything in the S2 plus a corkscrew and saw. I have handled them and compared side by side with my now lost S2. I think it should work.

I am pretty sick about the S2. 9 years of EDC. Only multitool I have ever owned. Used it just about daily at home, office, hunting, fishing, traveling, Cub Scouts...

I do now see the new S2 on the Leatherman site:
Original S2
"AVAILABILITY: This is a retired product and is no longer produced."

and the updated one
New S2

Only difference I can see between the old and new based on the website is:
"now available with all new textured anodized aluminum scales in Granite or Cinnabar."

That's gotta be tough after carrying one for so long. The new Juices have that textured scale, shorter blade and the screwdrivers have been reconfigured to allow easier opening. I don't think anyone has a new model in stock yet.

I wouldn't like a shorter blade. The easier opening screwdrivers would be nice. As far as textured scales I kind of like the smooth sides. They slip easily into and out of the pocket.

Got the Juice CS4 yesterday. It is perfect. Increased weight and width not noticeable in the pocket. Time will tell if I use the 3 extra tools. I forgot about the awl with the needle eye. Seems like the awl might make a nice fid.

I also purchased a Kershaw Cryo. Replaced my Kershaw Vapor.

Nice! That awl might come in handy. It's odd whenever I carry a knife with an awl like a Soldier or Pioneer I use it all the time. But don't seem to miss it if I have a knife without.

I have the Juice S2, I've had it many years and it has served me well! The added saw on the CS4 is awfully tempting. What is your impression on the saw? Is it anything like the saws on SAKs?

I haven't used the saw yet. The teeth seem like they would cut. They are offset and look sharp. I will have to give them a try.

I have never had a pocket tool with a cork screw nor an awl. I am itching to open up a bottle of wine. I showed my buddy how the can/bottle opener has a notch to add leverage when removing a cork. He was impressed.

I hope the awl will also serve as a fid in knot tying and untying.

Not exactly. It cuts on the draw, while SAK saws cut both ways. Two different concepts here; to add strength, the Vic saws are thicker, while Leathermen are thinner, which offers less resistance when sawing through wood. In my experience, both work well.

Worth looking into then. Thanks!

Be careful about that. Most corkscrew assists have two points of contact on the bottle rim for stability, but the Leatherman notch provides only one point. It's hard to keep it from sliding off to one side when there is pressure put on it. I even chipped a lip once. Some folks like the assist, I don't. I went back to my old SAK trick of screwing down and levering on the backspring mounted awl. Works like a charm.

I hope the awl will also serve as a fid in knot tying and untying.

It's a good awl when sharpened.
