Leatherman Juice XE6, first impressions

Finally got one yesterday.

Nice size, solid, but to me it's still questionable whether it will prove sturdy.

Yesterday I tried opening a nice Malbec (Argentina), and I struggled a bit. Unfortunately I broke the cork at the first try, but at the second try I got it out. I have good experience opening wine bottles with regular cheapo corkscrews, so I was a bit surprised when I couldn't extract it with the help/assist of the can opener/lever.

I also noticed one of the aluminum scales (handle cover) is a bit loose. It looks as of the bolt that keeps the tools in place is not inserted all the way. Anybody has this issue on their Juice (or similar models)?

I'd hate to send it to Leatherman when I just bought it, but for a pricey item (for me), I was expecting better QC.

And to top it off, I just found out about the discontinued Leatherman Juice Pro (with tweezers and foil cutter). Now I want that one too...

Thanks for listening,

Xela

I find it heavy for every-day carry, so it stays at home.

Have used it to open wine though!

Got to use the can opener on a large can of crushed tomatoes.

As expected, the tool is a bit blunt (doesn't have an edge like an SAK), but it did the job pretty well once I got the hang of it.

The tomatoes ended up in a whole wheat linguini dish. The pasta was covered with leftover shrimps and mussels (from Spanish tapas), and sauce done with olive oil, garlic, onions, white wine, capers, and red chili peppers.

Served it with chilled Portuguese "vinho blanco", and some whole wheat bread.

Thank you Leatherman.

BTW,

I did open a second bottle since last time (not the Portuguese though).

No problems the second time around. It could be I needed to get use to it's size. It is a bit smaller than the normal corkscrews I use.

i can never open a cork with the corkscrew on my juice or SAK, meanwhile, using a regular corckscrew I have no problems, bug the heck out of me every time i try it.
