What can anyone who's got a k502x tell me about it? It looks like a good idea from leatherman but how good is it? I'm specifically interested in:
- the blade: does it keep a good edge? is it easy to sharpen? If you've got the k503x, are the serrations any good? Does it feel like a good knife in itself, or like a multitool that happens to have a blade on it?
- the lock: strong?
- the screwdriver bits: do they sit tightly enough in the handle slots and the bit driver, but loose enough to come out easily when you want them?
- the handle: it looks like it'd fit well in the hand but having tool bits in the grip makes me think it'd be a bit uncomfortable and might even trap some skin?
- weight: particularly if you use the pocket clip, does that work well or does it weight down your pocket? How does feel in your hand compared to, say, a Buck 110 or a mid-sized SAK?

... plus any other impressions yu've got. Cheers!

I have a K502X on my belt everyday since March 2006. Its my heavy duty work knife. I own a lawn/landscape company and we use these knives very hard. Cutting carpet and waterhoses that get twisted into bushhog and mower blades. Trimmer line with Kevlar in it. Never run out of things to challenge it daily.

I have probably 75-100 knives in this size group. I was a 110 guy for a long time. I just wasn't all that happy with the performance of the 110 for my applications. This leatherman is a workhorse. Its very easy to touch up the blade when needed, but rarely does it need anything. Its a comfortable knife in my hand. The tools it does have work nicely and are very solid.

After much testing and buying of knives trying to get something that would really work daily, I have been really impressed with this knife. If I lost it tomorrow I would buy another immediately to replace it.

I believe that this is one very overlooked knife by the knife public.

I emailed Leatherman and told them to put a saw on it. They tried to sell me their "fixed" blade with a bone saw on it. I laughed thinking that if I wanted a fixed blade I'd just grab my swamp rat. So to the question, I don't own one but would if it had a saw. I really like the idea and the design but there's no reason to carry this over my Benchmade.

hi there! I own a K502x.. i havent used the knife much so i cant provide much info about the edge holding.. but it does have a great handle.. nice to hold, grippy and no, it won't pinch your skin.
The lock is tight and there is no blade play at all.. it feels just like a fixed blade in my hand.. but try to have a few to choose from as one of the K502x i saw in the shop had a teeny weenie bit of vertical blade play. nothing much though, but its better without it:D .
the knife is tad heavy but i like my knives like that.. its too heavy for EDC for most people i think.. i prefer to carry my spyderco salsa around (far lighter and slimmer).. Good thing the knife comes with a nice leather belt pouch.
For heavy duty stuff, i'm willing to bet that this knife would just be good as any other ( considering what 65hoss does with it ;) )
