Saw the sebertech version of this sold at sears, decided to turn my old micra into one of these. What do you think?

Looks like a great idea. Might have to make myself one. Even without the knife blade it seems like some of those implements are a little pointy to keep in your pocket. I have a Micra, and I can't tell what that longer thing next to the nail file is, is it some kind of lock pick?? If you really want to have some fun with this email those pictures off to Leatherman and ask them if it is still covered under warranty.

:) LOL. I'd like to hear what they say.

Actually the lock pick part is the spring bar from the Micra, without it, there is too much space between the locking bolts. I figured it was there to stay either way. Then I noticed this (Pictured Below), it makes a wonderful self defense device.

I left the blade off for two reasons, (1) no protection from the edge anymore, (2) I was wondering if this would be a good option to carry into places where they do not allow knives ... not including airlines of course.

As for the poking part ... the longest part on here is less in length then the longest key on my chain, so no fear of hurting the bits and pieces.

Yeah, I don't think my Micra warranty covers my misuse of a perfectly good micra. Have to do something though to feed my gadget addiction!! :D

PS. Make sure to use a little locktight on the threads if you descide this is a keeper.

You would need more tools to actually pick a lock.
Its not like the movies. I have made a pick set
though that fits in a ink pen!

I thought picking a lock would be more complicated than that. My second guess was that Mr. Malpiede had finally created a Micra answer to the legendary SAK toothpick.

Very nice gadget Ryan. How did you take the Micra apart, and more importantly, was it easy to put it back together?

It's all about breaking the locktight they have on the bolting system initally. You need two needel nose pliers on both sides, pushing in opposite directions to break the locktight sealent and start the unscrewing process. Once this is done the rest is easy. Putting it back in the original micra formation is just as easy, just make sure to put a dab of locktight back on the threads again when you put it back together.

Going to keep mine in this new formation, I can pick up a micra anywhere, a keyman ... well, there might be two now. :D
