Has anyone else but me noticed flaws on Leatherman folders?

I bought a Leatherman C302 some month ago, and the first time I used it, I had it in my front pocket. And when I reached for it my thumb got sliced on the edge, the knife was in closed position. But when in closed position you still could touch the edge because of the Carabiner. And when I looked at it I could see that it was nothing to prevent my fingers of touching the blade. A ordinary folder is constructed so you can´t get your fingers near the blade or the point of the blade. I didn´t loose my thumb :-) but I didn´t want to carry that knife anymore.
I sent it to Leatherman here, and got another one c304, this one is more safe though.

I have an e304x, the model that has aircraft alloy for the handle and 154cm steel. I actually really like it and have been carrying it for a few weeks now. The blade flipper is very quick and rivals all the kershaw scallions that my coworkers carry. On my particular model, there is no way I could touch the edge without it being open.

I have been EDCing an E307 for about 3 weeks now and have had no issues what so ever except everyone on the job wants to use it. I can see the very tip of my blade when closed but try as I might I have not been able to touch it. Thanks for the info on yours, I will keep on eye on that situation with mine.

it might have been a flaw in that particular knife. did you check others of the same model? that seems like something QC should have noticed. glad you still have your thumb though.

hehe yepp my thumb is still around!

I talked to Leatherman Sweden, and he said that that problem was on all the c302, and on some of the other models, not so much on the one I have now, got the c304 with the screwdrivers, and this one works great!
