I found a brochure on the Leatherman knives. Originally I didn't like them (seemed way to heavy and overpriced), but now I seem to be attracted to the lighter, low end ones because they look like they have a good design (love the carabiner/bottle opener) and a great price. (Good for general use/'beaters').

I haven't seen many comments on the forums...what do people thing about them?

I think the ones with 154cm blades might be worth a look, but they don't do anything for me personally.

If they'd bring the weight down and offer reversible pocket clips and thumbstuds I would get one. Until then, not interested.

I have a Leatherman Charge XTi and I love it. The 154CM blade is easy to use, the handle is comfortable and I still say Leatherman makes the best folding pliers out there.
If you’re really picky the fit and finish on the handle isn’t the best, but everything still works so I don’t complain.

I have a 301, that utilizes a pocket clip, no snap link. I only purchased it because it was on sale, and it turned out to be a very durable knife that would have definetely been worth the $25 original price, and was a great buy for $12. I'm still leary about the high end models that seem like Tactical Swiss Army Knives, but my experience with a single blade only has been positive.

I was looking at the 302 and 303 - about $25 on Amazon...not as good a deal as MP510s (must have been a closeout at a big box retailer), but still looks like a pretty good price.

Agree with MP510 that the high end ones look like Tactical Swiss Army Knives - seems kind of ridiculous.

But the smaller ones with the carabiners (that also open bottles) look kind of neat.

I have bought 3 of the K500X models and 1 K502X. They are 154CM and truely awesome. My work environment can be very hard on knives. I use them daily. These are very durable workman knives that I would RECOMMEND to anyone looking for a heavy duty lockback.
The K502X is much thicker and heavier. It is very solid though.
The K500X is an extremely thin knife that is unnoticable clipped to my right front pocket.

Anyone that puts down these two knives would be very nieve. They are one of the best and overlooked knives on the market right now. If I lost either of these tomorrow, I would buy another replacement immediately.
