The Crater and Expanse models look interesting. Any opinions on these? How do they compare with earlier offerings?

Hi znapschatz,

I have five of the Crater and two Expanse with another on the way to me. Thinner, better blade centering when closed, better blade launching thanks to a longer throw and bronze rather than nylon washers, more rationality to the design and far better clip.

I think Leatherman learned a lot with the first generation knives and hadthe courage to change.

I've been EDCing the e33B for three weeks now - really like it.

Best - Joe

The iterations I have seen look pretty solid , just not my style .

Thanx for your comments, but whew! With eight Leatherman knives, plus previous models, you must have quite a few on hand. My first thought is that most may be intended for gifts, but if not, may I ask, what it is you do that requires so many?

Hi Znapschatz,

I collect (and use) Leatherman products. At present, I have 154 Leatherman tools, 5 Leatherman pruners, 41 Leatherman knives and 4 Leatherman lights. Yes, I do have the bug bad :).

Best - Joe

PS - please don't ask about SAK's.

Hey Joe it is Hawkchucker!

Guys I dont chime in much here (due to being on a Multi board mostly) but i have seen Joes Collection in person(well most of it) at a meet up.

Very impressive! If you ever need a pic of a Leatherman ask him He got it!

Holy Cows, Joe! and I thought I was a bit over the top at 10, or at least my wife does (she never comments except for an occasional ).

Okay, I won't ask about SAKs. ;)

Q: Do you have favorites among your Leathermen? What do you rotate on an EDC basis?
