Leatherman Micra vs Squirt - Color Durability?

Does the color stay on the handles of the Leatherman Squirt model better then it did on the Micra?

Thanks,

I only have the Storm colored one but it seems to hold up better. I've carried it for a little over six months and it just has a few dings. It does chip though so I imagine that it'll have a lot of "charecter" by the end of the year.

I expect the Squirts to hold their color a lot longer. The steel Micra could be coated, but not anodized like the aluminum Squirts.

I'm not 100% sure but I'd guess that the same color
process is used on the Juice line. My Kf4 Juice
(yellow) is scratched a bit but the color is
holding fine after a year in my pocket.

Tightwad and bquinlan are on the right track. Squirts are clad in anodized aluminum, just like the Juice line, so color durability is very good. The first colored Micras were coated steel; that's probably what you had that got beat up. Currently, though, colored Micras have either anodized aluminum or a translucent plastic skin added to them.

I have been carrying a Squirt since last Christmas. (gotta Love a wife who likes to give knives as gifts!) The color (Blue) seems to be holding up pretty good - a few scratches and a few chips, but overall pretty good for being something that rides in my pocket every day.

The thing that is not holding up so well is the Phillips head screwdriver. It has a notch in each side where screws busted through the screwdriver's blade. When I used the screwdriver I made sure it didn't slip or anything and it has still developed a definite notch near the tip. Were the screws harder than the screwdriver? I think I'm just going to sand it down instead of sending it in.

Anybody else have that happen on a Squirt?
