Leatherman: Micra vs. Squirt S4, or Similar From Another Brand?

What do you think? If you're trying to cut down on bulk, do you really need scissors? Will a knife always be able to get jobs done, even if not as easily, that you'd do with scissors if you had them available? I've never been able to decide if having the Leatherman Charge XTi was better than having the Ti... the way I see it, the only significant thing the XTi is lacking is scissors. But is loosing the scissors really that big of a deal, especially when using multi-tools involves improvising anyway?

Edit: I changed this topic drastically from its original form. However I don't see how to change the topic name.

Scissors are a 'must have' on a multi-tool for me. I use them often for trimming loose threads and finger nails.

Of course, but that function can easily be done with an auxiliary tool. Micras and Squirts are small enough to hang on a keychain or stuff into a watch pocket, yet provide scissors the equal or superior to any found on a full sized multi-tool. A combo approach frees up choices for a full sized multi-tool because it makes the presence or not of scissors a minor matter.

For many years my EDC of PST/Supertool/ST 200 and Micra (clipped to a micro-light) has covered it all easily and well. Even so, because like anyone else I am easily seduced by promises of ever more bliss, I picked up at various times a Charge Ti, Juice CS4 and Squirt P4. This was mostly because of lucking in to blowout prices, thanks to tips from posters on this very forum.:)

My plan was to try out these Leathermen and either keep or sell them used for what I paid new. Actually, I wound up keeping all but one (got more than I paid for it, too!) because they are really very nice multitools with charms of their own. But I keep gravitating to the ST 200/Micra combo. I'm not really sure why, but it seems a perfect balance of functionality and durability. In this regard I don't think Leatherman or anyone else has done better with any other of their models.

I use the scissors a lot.

The SwissCard Lite makes a great companion for multitools that lack scissors. The SwissCard Lite’s pen, tweezers, magnifier and red LED also compliment a multitool nicely.
