Leatherman muti tool

If you do not need a one hand opening blade and can bump that money up $10, the Leatherman Rebar comes out next month. It's a smaller version of Supertool 300. That's my next purchase!

Medium size, I'd say either a Juice S2 (around mid 30s) or wait for the Rebar like Mike suggested (should be around 40).

Aren't the Wingman and Sidekick supposed to fill that segment of the market?

Yeah, quality is not the same as that of a MUT but the they're both under $40.

hey dudes i'm lookin for a good Leatherman medium sized multi tool for under $40. Any ideas? thanks.

If you don't care about being able to open the blade one handed, check out the Blast. The Fuse and Kick are pretty solid lower-end options as well, but they've been discontinued (however, you can certainly still find them on that big auction site).

I'll put in a vote for the Juice S2. It's my favorite Leatherman so far. (I have an original Leatherman, the Juice S2, and a Squirt ES2)

I may try a Wave or something, but I can't go without my scissors, as wimpy as that sounds. I find myself using the scissors twice as often as the knife blade or pliers. We just had a baby, and there are ALL THESE toys and clothes that need de-tagging in the worst way. A sharp knife will do it, but there's always a bit of drama, and the cut is not always straight on those soft nylon tags.

If you decide in favor of another model, make sure you know that if you go bigger than the juice series, it is not a pants-pocket tool; it is coat pocket, belt, or backpack tool.

The Squirts are nice too, but the knife blades are toy-ish. Chisel ground, but it gets the job done. The scissors spring jumps out of alignment pretty easily too, if I do more than a couple snips at a time. Super-annoying. But for a keychain-sized MT, it is un-rivaled, I think, except for maybe the Micra. (call it a tie)

First, check Craigslist. I've seen Wave's offered for $25 multiple times, and once even a Charge for $50. You never know.

The Leatherman Wingman and Sidekick fall into your range, but I don't know if I'd recommend them. They aren't bad tools, but they are somewhat limited as they are basically starter multitools.

The Blast is a full featured multitool, and is priced right at about $40 or so, generally. There is some plastic in the construction, but it is a very well regarded multitool.

I'd recommend saving a couple more bucks and waiting for the Rebar.

Well there is nice selection in LM tools...

You can't go wrong with:
- Sidekick
- Wingmyn
- Fuse
- Kick
- Blast

Bit more but nice:
- Juice line (S2, SC4, XE6)

But I'd advise Leatherman Wave!!

Then again, if you want seriously good MT and save a bit you can go with Victorinox SwissTool Spirit!! Seriously awesom multi!!!

Forget about others, keep with LM, or upgrade on Victorinox!!

Dude I'd highly recommend the fuse. Its one of my favorite leathermans. Also gerber better then leatherman, that's a knee slapper! :D

I like the Juice S2 as a mid size Leatherman. It fits perfectly in the coin pocket of my jeans and has all tools I want on a multitool; pliers, screw drivers, blade and scissors. The Fuse is a great option too. I skipped the Wingman / Sidekick after reading quite a few mixed reviews and am waiting for the first reviews on the Rebar.

I bought an essentially brand new Wave from a local pawn shop for $40 even, and I know that a lot of pawn shops will have Leathermans for around that price. Even though I upgraded to a Charge, that price can't be beat.

I can go you one better. A few days ago I bought a Wave at a pawn shop. Most of the tools appear unused. Nylon sheath looks unused. Main (plain) blade still had the factory edge. (I sharpened it.)
Out the door for $18.00. Not a typo...eighteen dollars OTD.
