I know most will say leatherman but I am about to buy one of the two so how do they compare.
Leatherman PST to Gerber 600

Between the two, Leatherman all the way. Gerber has had a lot of quality issues with their multitools, and I haven't heard that anything has changed.

Of course, if you want my suggestion, I'd say get a SOG!

I'll second the motion for a SOG. Their PocketPlier is probably closest to the Gerber 600 in size, although the PowerPlier is not really much larger.

Heya u812

I've got a Leatherman Wave, Gerber Legend 800 and a black SOG Powerlock...

It depends on what you will be using the tool for. If you are gonna be using the pliers the most then get the SOG. But it is a bit heavier than the leatherman. I've never used the Gerber 600 or Leatherman PST but i'm guessing the leatherman has an edge on the gerber. It has better customer service as well.

It's a bit difficult to access the inner tools of the SOG but flippin' the pliers open is just too cool.

Another vote for Sog.

However, between Leatherman and Gerber, I say Leatherman.

hmmm...I have both, love the Leatherman Supertool for the weekends, but carry my Gerber Urban Legend daily...gotta love the spring-action pliers!

The PST seems too small, and I don't believe the tools/blade locks....

My vote is for Leatherman line. Also consider SOG
tools as they are well made tools. Either way.....
Forget Gerber & Swisstool.:barf: They are more
trouble than they are worth.:(

I have asked a forumite about a Supertool if I don't work out something there I am leaning toward a KF4.

I've carried Gerber exclusively since a PST(PSTII?) Got stolen in 96 or 97, and never had a problem. Was happy to change anwyays, was doing lots of theatre lighting work at time, and the quick one handed opening(I can open a Super tool or similar one handed too, just takes too much work) was really appreciated when I was holding up a 40# or so light with one hand and getting out pliers with the other.

Which multi-tool has the best wire cutting ability? I've totalled a few leatherman tools (big dents in the cutting edge inside the pliers) trying to cut thick wire.

I just bought a Leatherman Supertool 200.I think this one will work fine.I am going to carry it in the truck so I don't need to carry a tool box around.
I have cut chain link fence with a PST with no damage except to my hand. The handles on the PST are not very comfortable with useing it with a strong grip.

Good choice!! I've had the earlier version of the Super Tool for years. It's a real workhorse. ;)

Good choice, Jeff, I'm sure that you'll be happy with it. I carry my ST200 everyday, because you never know when you're gonna need that toolbox. ;)

I bought a Leatherman Wave a couple weeks ago.
I don't know how I've gone without this wonderful tool for so long. I love it.
