One of my Leatherman's little mini srewdrivers broke. It is the Blast model and it is the screwdriver that is for extremely small screws. You can pull it out and flip it around as it has a phillips on one end, and a flathead on the other. I have had this one in question, about 10 months or so. Will Leatherman replace it and will I have to send it back to Leatherman to get a replacement? It doesn't need to be taken apart, as the part that broke detaches from the tool as part of its normal function

Give them a call (1-800-847-8665) or drop them an e-mail (toolwarranty@leatherman.com) to see. I'm thinking they'll want you to send the tool in, even though it's a detatchable piece that's broken. That's $4-$5 shipping to them plus wait time. They also sell replacements (http://www.leatherman.com/shop/shop.aspx?category=37 near the bottom). If that's the case, just goto Wal-Mart and get one of those mini-screwdriver kits that they sell for $1 in the blue plastic case and cut up the smallest size screwdriver in the kit. That should fit the driver.

Leatherman has great customer service. I bought 2 replacement sheathes (1 for another Leatherman that I bought without one, and another one for future use), and one was defective. They looked up my order, appologized for the problem, and sent me two. That was very nice of them.

Great customer service? I wish that was my experience. That part is not covered in the warranty, as it is classified as an "accessory". Why the hell should they even include it with the tool when you buy it then? cheap pot metal junk..... Just like corporate america.....

I wish I had 4 hands, so I could give leatherman 4 thumbs down....

You must be lucky?

I cannot fault their customer service and think you will have no problems in getting yours sorted, however I think their materials are poor and would never consider buying another !!!

I have noted several negative posts concerning Leatherman materials. My experience with their products has been generally positive, although not entirely trouble free, consisting of poor fit on a Charge and a Juice CS4, which their waranty service put right. But I have not had any problems with tools bending or breaking. Would you be specific about your LT problems, please?

I have already mentioned this in a previous thread so do not want to dwell on it too much!
The screwdriver bit rounded off and the can opener lock mechanism broke both on their first time of being used!

Yeah, I guess. My sheaths were sent out by a lady in the cust serv department. She was very nice, and the envelope had her name on hand written in under the Leatherman address sticker. I should have mentioned, I called late on a Friday after noon. In the last month I have bought over a half dozen of their tools (new) plus some used, so I am a very loyal Leatherman customer.

Guess he's not the only one. It seems to be a pattern.
My ex-roommate broke something on his old PST. They sent him a new one.
Coworker broke the blade on a Sideclip. They sent him a new one.
I broke the pliers on a Wave. They sent me a new one.

same here, every time I have broken something on my supertools they have just sent me a new one. It looks lide they are actually going to hold to the 25 year guarantee since date of mfg. is now stamped inside the handles, but I bet they still just send a new one anyway.
