Hi all,

New member from the UK here! I came across this forum and thought this would be an excellent resource, so had to join in. I was wondering if someone can help me.

I recently got this Leatherman PST from a local car boot sale (kind of like a flea market for our US friends!), with British military markings on the handle. Marked on the side of the handle is the latter part of the NATO stock number, an arrow (British government ownership marking), and the year of issue. I also collect military stuff, so a military issue Leatherman was 'win-win' for me! Both handles have a June 1993 (0693) manufacture date. After a little bit of research, I found that these military marked PST tools were Issued to the Royal Marines, and from what I can understand, only 1990 and 1993 produced PST's have these markings. Maybe someone out there can correct me if I'm wrong! I'm really pleased to have found it, as I've never seen another one like it, not even here in the UK. I've posted this elsewhere and other experts have said that this is a fairly rare tool, so that makes it all the more interesting!

Unfortunately, the tip of the blade has snapped off, which is where I need some help. Seeing as this is seemingly a fairly rare tool, I would really like to fix this. I've been looking around on Ebay and on google, but I haven't been so lucky. Could someone point me in the right direction for finding a replacement blade, or would someone on this forum be able to help me out with a spare? Any help would be greatly appreciated!

Many thanks indeed!

Best regards,

I had one of that model get a blade broken by a land-neighbor kid. Leatherman replaced it with only shipping charged. Well past warranty, but they are an awesome company. You might reach out to them to see how they can help.

BTW: Is finding a donor PST for the blade an option?
I saw a couple of the PST's for sale over on the big option site that are relatively inexpensive? (By it now $20-$30 or so, with a good blade.)

I'd think Tim Leatherman would be honored to repair or assist in getting you a replacement blade if he actually saw this thread. I would contact the company.

This is a piece of Leatherman history as much as a piece of British history and is a very cool piece.

I wish you luck.

Hi guys,

Thanks very much for your comments! I had thought of looking for another PST for the parts, but they seem to be a little hard to find where I am. There’s plenty on eBay in the US, but the postage to the UK..... 😬 On this side of the pond, eBay have a very slim selection of nice clean and cased examples, but they are too nice take apart. It’s typical really, I saw about 6 months ago four spare blades as I was just scrolling through eBay, and now I need one, there isn’t any. lol.
Thanks for your suggestions regarding writing to Leatherman. I had thought about writing to Leatherman, but as it’s well out of warranty and is a model that was discontinued 21 years ago, I thought that the collectors circles might have been the best way. Thanks for steering me in the right direction. I just sent them an email, so hopefully they can help out!
Will update if successful. :)

Thanks very much indeed!

Best regards,

Simon
