Alright guys, I'm fairly new to EDC'ing but I feel I'm on the right track. I was carrying some no name multitool, but today my mom got me a Carhartt jacket from a thrift store (I'm only 16, Carhartt was part of my birthday present, with a 1994 chevy blazer)and in the pocket was a like new 2001 Leatherman PST. I couldn't find very much info on them. Here are some pictures. Let me know what you think.

Nice PST. The PST is a great tool. It is a classic and everyone should have at least one. :)

Are you kidding! I picked up my first leatherman overseas in 94 or 95...just this last tuesday I sent it back to Portland for warranty service, I never knew it had the build date on it.

Good score! The PST is basically the original pliers-based multi-tool as we understand it today. In some ways it is dated, but still a marvelously capable tool. Although I mostly use other models now, it was the one that steered me to the whole Leatherman deal, and I still use it from time to time when I travel to places where locking blades are not legal to carry or when I want to go light. At 5 oz., the PST weighs less and takes up less space than any other full sized Leatherman. Some people prefer them for that reason. This includes my son, who still carries the one i gave him 14 years ago, and another guy of my acquaintance who owns and operates a successful dairy. He takes an active part alongside his employees in the daily farm, milking and packaging chores. Although he can easily afford a new later model, he still uses his original PST every working day, won't replace it with another even as a gift, and is on his third or fourth leather sheath. That's some kind of endorsement, I think.

Very nice pickup!

I like older PSTs and have three of them of varying ages.

Congrats - a nice jacket with a hidden prize!

Mine is like that as well. I assume are assembled at separate dates then they go to final assembly.

Leatherman will stamp the parts at the time of manufacture, but the parts can sit in bins for months before someone from assembly happens to pick it up, hence the differing dates.

A PST isn't my favourite MT but it is a classic and will cover you for the vast majority of your 'on the go' needs.

I dug my PST out about a year ago and I have carried it since, I love it, it is a great all around multitool and light

Was yours left in there before it went into the thrift store?

It so, id say that you scored on that one.

I love mine, but I am thinking about upgrading (great excuse to get a new one). Only problem is, I like the old leather sheaths better than the new ones
