I'm a new guy here and I'm looking to get a new multi-tool. I'm currently looking at the Leatherman Wave. Is it easy to get the tools (not one hand opening blades) open on the Wave? My Leatherman experience is limited to some cheap knock-off where it was near impossible to get anything out of the handles. If it's not that easy, could you reccomend a tool where it is easy?

Thanks
Nathan

Welome Nathan,

I just reached for my Wave and opened all the tools. Is it easy? Well, that depends upon what you consider to be easy but I had no difficulty although sometimes several tools come out when I pull on one...but that is not a problem. I just push the other ones back down. It is about as easy/difficult as opening a SAK. Hope this helps, Alan

They do loosen up over time, but on the whole, the Wave's are pretty easy to open right out of the box. And the quality of the tools is superb. Nice grippy screwdriver with relatively long shafts.

The separate tools on the SwissTools are easier to get out, and all available from the closed position. But the whole thing is heavier.
The Gerber Legend is supposed to have easy-access blades (they are also available when the tool is closed). But I've never had the opportunity to fondle one. The blades on the Gerber Multi-Pliers were pretty easy to get out, once you had them open.
As I mentioned elsewhere, I'm probably headed for SAK + mini-Vise Grip as my combination.

I've got a Wave and it's much, much easier to use than the knockoff multitools I started with.

Welcome Nathan,You can"t go wrong with the Leatherman no matter what one you get .I have two super Leatherman and a standard one and have no problem opening them and there customer service is great.When my Son was younger, about 12 years old, I gave him one and He broke the blade in half,he was using the blade like a pry bar.I sent it in and asked them to put a new blade on it and to send me the bill.Well not only did they put a new blade on it they also replaced a couple of the screw driver bits cause the ones they were making at the time were better then the ones that were on it when I bought it.They never charged me a thing,and I have bought two more since then.Good luck,Gordy

Nathan, Leatherman makes an excellent assortment of Multi-Tools. A couple of tips for you before you purchase;

Use the Search feature over on the General Forum and you can read what others have stated about several of the different Models that Leatherman produces.

Also, make sure and look around at different WebSites for the best price I would Start with the Sites that Post in the For Sale -Dealers forum. Lots of good folks
there.

As others have already stated, you will really be pleased with high quality of the Leatherman and they are worth every penny.
