Wondering if either an Orginal Supertool or Rebar would be a better choice for general use around home or apartment as a gift for someone?

Both are rugged heavy duty tools. Either/Both are a solid choice.
I vote for the one that has the tools you'll use the most, has other features you like, and won't strain your budget.
Since neither tool is exactly "inexpensive", I will guess getting both is not a viable option.

As afishhunter afishhunter said depends what tools would be used. Check out some reviews online. I like the wave, charge size for use & recently picked up a free p4. If i was buying 1 as a gift & lt was in budget I would go a free p2 as it has all the basics covered for round home & easy to use 1 handed.
Good luck

If you're buying as gifts I suggest the bond, because it has all the basics is affordable, and is an easier to carry size.
A bigger tool may seem a bit more bulky / obtrusive to carry unless somebody has thought about it and decided that the particular tool has the functions they want that justify the size.

More often than not, if I'm giving a gift, I want it to be in the original packaging and, potentially, returnable. So, while the original Super Tool is a fine MT, I'd probably opt for a brand new, still in the original packaging, Bond. Now, if you know the recipient is longing for a jumbo size tool, then a Super Tool 300 would be a great gift, if you are willing to spring for the extra $. I like jumbo and prefer maximum capability, so I EDC a fully accessorized first generation Surge. The extra weight keeps me grounded on windy mid-western days! A brand new Rebar would also be a great gift.T-A

If I could only pick one of the dozens of pliers based tools I own, I think it would be a Rebar. It's like a ST300 Light. Plenty of tools, great locks, comfortable to use, and will handle 90% of the things I will do without having to step up to the larger ST300. I gravitate and prefer tools with external blades like the P4 or the Charge TTi, but if I had to just go with one the Rebar would be the winner.

I'm going to disagree with the suggestion of the Bond. I bought one in February, and it's in the big NOPE pile for me. After having the blade tip pop out and cut me at least 4 times while using it, it's a dud in my book. A tool that requires you to close the handles in order for it to be safe isn't for me. The last time it got me, I had set it down on the floor while fixing my dishwasher. I reached down blindly to grab it the blade got me.
