I have a LM juice CS4 but I find it a bit heavy for pocket carry and ends up in my bag. I'm thinking of getting a LM Squirt PS4 for everyday pocket carry together with an EDC folding knife mainly because it has scissors and its light. I would like to know if LM has improved the scissors on their Squirt PS4 since it's what I wanted it for. I read some reviews that the springs on the scissors are not that strong and if you're unlucky they easily break.

I've used a squirt for about a year and a half now on a pretty steady basis. Usually combine it with a dedicated pocket knife. So far no problem with anything.

I have a PS4 that rides to gigs in my music bag. GREAT little tool  and I've never had any problems with the scissors. Recommended.

The scissors spring on my Style PS broke without even being used; just opened it up one day and the broken spring fell out. I sent the PS to Leatherman warranty, which for unknown reasons returned to me a PS4. Its scissors are the same design, although I have the impression the spring is just a bit thicker. I've read that others have had the same spring problem. At first I thought it was a design flaw, but since then, others have said the problem was a bad heat treat, presumedly corrected on current production. So I don't know. What I would do is get the PS4 and not worry about it. Even if the spring breaks, the scissors would still be useable, and when convenient, could be shipped off to LT for repair or replacement.

That's good to hear. I'm placing my order within the week. Thinking of getting 2, black and red so i can keep a spare just in case.

I've been using one for a little over a year as well. I've had no problems with the scissors. The pliers broke on me, but LM honored the warranty and sent me a new one. I've been happy with it.

Now, that is how to do it! You just about can't go wrong. If a Leatherman needs service, it gets done fast and free while the other is in your hands. That is based on needing to send in mine several times during the last 20 years, all but once because the ham-fisted not very bright person operating the things (me) didn't know when enough was enough; no fault of the tool. It's another big selling point to me in favor of Leatherman. Besides, I like them better :) .

BTW, good choice. It just so happens that I own two PS4s, one black and one red ;) .

How often do you need pliers and will be separated from your bag?

For me, the answer is, "almost never". All of my bags have a multitool of some sort in them. My bag is usually nearby. Minimally in my car. Almost always in the same building as me. Very often in the same room.

I carry a Leatherman Micra as my companion to my EDC knife. The Micra's scissors are AWESOME, especially if you keep them tuned up and sharp?

One place I prefer the PS4 is for backpacking. It's the perfect ultra light backpacking tool. But for EDC, it's the Micra for me.

I was also checking out the Micra before I decided on the Squirt PS4. What I did not like with the Micra is you have to open it before you can access the other tools. The Squirt also offers you Pliers plus descent scissors that was the deciding factor for me.

That's what swung me over to the squirt. I like the micra, but having to open the whole tool every time I needed a tool got on my nerves after a while. I think the micra has better shaped tools, but the layout is what turned me off after a while. After trying them both for several months, I found I was leaving the micra home more and more and carrying the squirt.

I have the Style PS and Squirt PS4. I believe they use the same scissors in both. I carry the Style working often in places that do not allow knives and I prefer a pliers and use it relatively often for gripping small things mostly. Use the Squirt more because it is on my key chain, but I do like the Style PS. Have actually used the knife blade on the Squirt to open a package when I didn't have a knife on me (which is rare).

To me neither is all that expensive and if the scissors breaks, I'll get another one. I don't use a scissors often except when I am getting Fedex and USPS packages together and taping over their adhesives for security purposes.

I want to like the Squirt, but I find the pliers too small for most of what needs pliering, and the scissors too small for scissoring. I tried one for a while, then went back to the Micra, which is so much more versatile that I don't mind the extra unfolding. Long term use might have had something to do with it. I've had the thing for almost 20 years, so I know it well and have bonded with it. For pliers, the smallest multi-tool I would carry is a Juice, with Rebar even better. Makes a great pairing with the Micra.

That's the reason they have 31 flavors of ice cream; YMMV. I personally love the little pliers and now that I've become used having them use them. They handle small nuts and bolts easily, grip small things that older arthritic finger have trouble with, and they are precise enough that they make decent forceps. The scissors are just as handy as the SAK classic scissors that Iuse so much. Most times I'm not cutting heavy leather or canvas so the small scissors work well on broken nails, hangnails, coupons, corners of individual servings of plastic mustard or mayonnaise packs that defy opening once you get food or water on your hands. Not bad on loose threads either.

Each to their own. But now when I carry a micra, I miss the pliers. The squirt gives me the best of both worlds.

Ah, 31 flavors; the Swisschamp of ice cream :D . The little scissors do well enough on many things, but not for one of my major uses, trimming the mustache while way from home. At the gym, after showering I often do minor snips on the old woolybear, for which the Micra is ideal and the dinkies on the Classic and Squirt are not. Also, it's much easier to trim a stickout twig from a hedge with the Micra than the Squirt. My choice didn't come all at once. I gave the Squirt a good run before going back to what is good and right. But as you said, YMMV. ;)

I just got the Squirt and I noticed that one handle is harder to close than the other and makes a cracking noise when it closes. Is this normal.

I have been carrying the Juice S2 for a while not. I really like it. The Squirt was just a little to small to the functionality I wanted.

I currently have two Squirts and have given a couple as gifts. One stays in my mountain bike hydration pack, while the other sometimes rides in my pocket. I'd love to find one of the early model belt sheaths, as I find it just a bit heavy in the pocket. I find the file to be pretty awesome. I used it several times in the past to cut composite hockey sticks to length at the rink for players on my son's team.
